Beaded clothing from Africa

Just wanted to show everyone the new show at Bead + Fiber, Into Africa.  I put up some beautiful modern and ancient-style pieces for the show.  Here's a little taste of what you'll see if you go.

Also, we're now accepting submissions for The Practical , The Impractical and The ARTrageous fashion show.  If you're a designer in or around boston, contact me and I'll send you more information.

Teaching felting is always a joy. Last tuesday, I had another great felting class with wonderfully creative students.  This was a felt scarf class and all the students were eager to learn to felt wool.

I had two students for this felting class and they both decided to use the felbi pre-felt for their scarves.  This image is of one of my students designing her border for the pre-felt scarf.

She chose  a green backdrop with lighter green wool top as her outer layer.  The other student used purple backdrop and laid out her wool in a more organic pattern.

They both went through the rigorous process of wetting, massaging, rolling, and massaging again with vigor.  As always, they ended up with beautiful scarves in the end.  Here are some close ups of the finished products.

Voila.  Hope you enjoyed getting to see some of the wool felting process in one of my classes.  I'm off to update and decorate the Bead + Fiber gallery.

Till then, adios felters!
