Biography

Barbara started B. Felt in 2009 as a family run crafts business focused on creating one of a kind "art-to-wear". Prior to starting B. Felt, she worked as a figurative painter. You can see Barbara's figurative paintings and drawings at barbarapooleartist.net She still aspires to work in both mediums, but is focused solely on fiber arts right now.
Barbara became a full-time felt maker after becoming enchanted with the magic of the medium. From wool, soap and elbow grease, one can create beautiful pieces of wearable art. She consistently experiments with new styles and techniques to create new textures and effects. You can follow her work and discoveries on her blog and in facebook.
In addition to creating wonderful felt garments and felt fashion accessories, Barbara teaches and conducts workshops in felt making. Currently she teaches at Bead & Fiber, the Boston Center for Adult Education and the Worcester Art Museum.
Her work is for sale at Bead & Fiber, The Fuller Craft Museum, and in the Fall of 2010, her work will be featured at Paradise City craft shows in Northampton, Massachusetts and Marlborough, Massachusetts.
